Learning

The technical state of the art is an accelerating target. We understand that our role as consultants involves not only keeping current with installed technology but anticipating our role in partnership with our clients as we help define the next generation of systems and applications.

To that end, we have developed educational resources for our consultants that ensure the widest possible exposure to both the theoretical and practical aspects of emerging technologies.

Consultant Networking
Several times a year, Synectics sponsors an informal social gathering of consultants. The purpose of these events is to gather in a relaxed atmosphere to meet and to discuss technology issues.

At the meeting, one of our senior consultants gives a short presentation on an emerging technical subject, followed by an informal discussion. The opportunity to socialize and interact with fellow consultants is always a highlight of these meetings.

Technical Conferences
Three times a year, Synectics sponsors a formal gathering for consultants to learn about new trends in technology and business.

Guest speakers have varied from software vendors representatives to our senior consultants. The subject of our featured presentation is always an exciting technology that affects each and every consultant.

Focus Groups
We have developed a number of Technology Focus Groups containing 6 to 10 consultants working as a team for hands-on-training. Recent focus groups have concentrated on technologies including Visual Basic, COM/DCOM, CORBA, Internet/Intranet, and Oracle Database.

Technology Lab
At Synectics we have pioneered a multi-level approach to increase our collective knowledge base.
Synectics maintains a state-of-the-art computer lab with continually upgraded technologies, including: Lotus Notes, Microsoft Backoffice suite of products, Oracle, Solaris and a variety of knowledge bases.

Classroom Training\CBTs
Every quarter Synectics posts a new list of internal and external course selections for our consultants. Our course selection includes: developer classes in Visual Basic, JAVA, COM/DCOM, CORBA, Cold Fusion, Photoshop, SQL, DB2, Sybase and Oracle. Once a consultant completes a class we encourage participation in a Focus Group to gain practical experience in a given technology. A full suite of computer-based training courses is available to consultants at all times.

Desktop Software Library
Through special arrangement with our software business partners, Synectics distributes limited copies of the latest desktop software to our consultants for installation on their home personal computers or laptops. This ensures both familiarity and depth of knowledge with updated versions of the most widely installed PC software applications.
