  • Develop cost estimates for clients, and reviewing the progress of existing projects to ensure their completion within the parameters of the established project budget.
  • Interface with clients during estimate review and cost presentation.
  • Negotiate commercial terms for construction contracts.
  • Solicit sub-contractor pricing and bids for select trades in preparation of cost estimate
  • Provide narratives for selected portions of a project cost estimate to adequately describe scope and level of quality within an estimate.
  • Research selected products from a cost and constructability perspective
  • Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications, ensuring required information is provided
  • Ensures the credibility of the information contained in the estimate.
  • Preform estimates on change orders/new projects and execute contracts.
  • Oversees the development and recording of the projects historical estimate information and lessons learned.
  • Provides means of continuous improvement of the estimating organization through bench marking and maintaining affiliations with industry estimating/scheduling organizations and local/national chapters.
  • Supports the project teams and estimating personnel efforts towards the development of the project plan and translating that project plan into the project estimate.
  • Ensures that required project estimating and/or planning/scheduling controls are appropriately implemented and maintained.
  • Capability to meet critical project deadline, willingness to coordinate and work as a team member.

  • Conduct preliminary project Risk Analysis and perform general conditions analysis and pricing.
  • Provides expertise to develop methodologies, techniques and tools, software, standards and guidelines for estimating and/or planning/scheduling
  • Lead value engineering sessions and manage the meeting process with optimal results.
Skills: Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s' degree in, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management OR a related field and the knowledge.
  • Knowledge in estimating software.
  • 5+ years estimating on large projects (as an example, $10M or above).
  • Utility, Oil Refinery or similar experience.
  • Previously done estimating for mechanical piping and components
  • Must have Mechanical estimating experience or the 5+ yrs experience.
  • Must have 5+ Construction field experience and construction estimating on large projects.
  • Certified from ASPE, PMI, AACE, preferred
  • Higher education is a favorable.
  • Work experience in Mechanical trades Division 21 Fire Suppression, Division 22 Pluming/Piping, Division 23 HVAC
  • Expert knowledge in application of estimating/scheduling software and application of the software.
